November 2007 - Charity Pub Quiz

The nice folk at the Brewery Tap let us take over their pub quiz for the night. We asked the questions, ran a raffle and played Heads or Tails. £250 was raised for the Ipswich Neonatal baby unit, on behalf of Social Distractions, with another £100 going to the various other charities we support.

October 1930 - Murder Mystery
We at Rotaract would kill for a good party. And this time we did. Set in prohibitioned Chicago, we had a crooked mayor, a dodgy cop, a couple of battling gang bosses and a selection of henchmen, dames, dolls and dealers. It would have been a crime to miss it.

September 2007 - ERIC - Trip to Itally

Six of us went over to Cremona in Italy, to join hundreds of other Rotaractors from around Europe for a long weekend. We toured the town, climbed the steps of the tallest brick tower in Europe, visited a cheese factory (!) and enjoyed a couple of violin concerts. Great meals, black tie balls, Italian villas, and lots of new friends to be made. This really was a packed few days.

August 2007 - Fancy Dress Pub Crawl

The plan was simple. Get dressed up, as superheroes and cartoon characters, and walk around Ipswich, pop into the pubs, have a couple
of drinks, and collect lots of money for the Alzheimers Society. The best bit is... it worked. We had lots of
fun and raised over £300. See also the video.

July 2007 - Music On The Green
We love Music On The Green. Martleshams foremost annual music festival. The year, as in previous, we were helping out with everything
from the car boot sale and raffle ticket selling to committee meetins and greeting the bands. And somewhere in all that, we still find time to sit down
and enjoy the music.

June 2007 - Sunny Walk

We went for a lovely stroll along the bank of the Deben, from Martlesham Heath to Woodbridge. Rounding each end off at the Red Lion
pub. A very relaxing event, with plenty of time to chat and catch up with each other.

May 2007 - RGBI Conference

A long weekend in London with lots of Rotaractors from around the UK. Deben failed to win the fancy dress competition, but did at least look
smart for the gala ball. Michelle kept everyone warmed up with her Supergirl keep fit routine, and Mark scared everyone with his entry in the Miss Rotaract UK
contest. Oh, and we won and award for our Mountain Challenge project, so that was nice.

April 2007 - Charity Pool Competition
We ran a charity pool night. About 20 people of all ages came along and had a great evening. As well as the normal games of pool, there was also a couple of skill-shot games; with players winning everything from lollypops to Toblerone. Oh - and we raised about £150 for the Rotaract Overseas Project.
See the video of the night.

March 2007 - Ski Trip to France

Perfectly ordinary Rotarctors
Eleven Rotaractors from all around the UK joined in the Deben Ski Trip this year. An amazingly fun week on the French/Italian border. With skiers and snowboarders of all abilities (from "I've never skied before in my life" to "I was born with skis on my feet - it did suprise the doctor"), a great week was had. And as much fun was had off the slopes as on. With some great meals, party games, beatuiful walks... it's a week that no one there is likely to forget.

March 2007 - Rocky Horror Show
With the Rocky Horror Show visiting Ipswich, it was inevitable that Rotaract would be getting dressed to go along. (Fortuantly, lots of other people did too - we wouldn't of wanted to look odd.
See other Ipswich fancy dress events.

December 2006 - Christmas!

Justin unwraps with delight
This year, we had our Christmas dinner at El Puntos, the floating restuarant, in Ipswich. Very poshed up and all. Getting into the spirit of Christmas we met up a few days later for mince pies, muld wine and a Secret Santa prezzy giving. The twist this year was we decided to MAKE the presents. As not everyone is equaly crafty, this led to some interesting gifts.
On top of all that, we also joined Deben Rotary for a couple of fund-raising trips on the Santa Sleigh.

November 2006 - Back To Front

The Back to Front party was... somewhere
A whole bunch of Rotaractors from around the UK met up for a party with a difference. Everything was a little... backwards. For the meal; deserts first, starters last. For the outfits... well, some people had clothes on back to front, others were inside out. The ten from Deben... cross-dressing. Click the pic for the gallery to see our shame in full.

October 2006 - Amsterdam Holiday

The beutiful canals of Amsterdam
Half a dozen Deben Rotaractors went for a weeks toristing in Amsterdam. A great city; We visited art gallaries, diamond factories, botanical gardens and the Erotic museum. We also found a rather good Irish pub, which while it may not strictly have been dutch, did have some great live music, so we wern't going to be too fussy.
