About Rotaract

Deben Rotaract club meets up regularly (generally on Tuesday evenings) for community, charity and social events. Amongst our ranks we have (and have had) students, doctors, nurses, radiographers, commodity traders, IT experts, retailers, pharmacists, secretaries and many other professions.

Deben Rotaract has members from Suffolk - mainly the Ipswich and Woodbridge areas, but we have had members from all over Suffolk and North Essex.

If you want to get a good idea of what kind of things we get up to, have a look at the image gallery and the events page To see what things we are going to be doing, take a peek at the Programme page. This will include lots of fun with fancy dress, quizzes, games, meals and holidays.

Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for local charities including

  • St Elizabeth Hospice
  • Suffolk Wildlife Trust
  • Martlesham Responders

Besides raising money we've helped we've collected money and helped out at Music on the Green, and at the Aldeburgh Carnival. We've taken part in Kid's Day Out and assisted at the annual Disabled sports day at Northgate sports centre.

See our charity page for more information.

Our BIG project recently, was the Rotaract Mountain Challenge - We were representing RGBI in a 3 mountains, 3 countries, 24 hours style challenge. We raised £5000 for Sight Savers International and were kept very busy doing so. Check out the Mountain Challenge website for more details. (The project was so big, the Deben site alone couldn't hold it).

You don't have to volunteer much of your time to make a real difference, and meet new people.
